Humour me, LORD, this torrid day,
Freedom from such worthless fray.
Yearnings quench, my fears allay,
Gentle rain, tears slipping away.

Arise
Distant music calling, strange but familiar song,
Chords sweet gently playing, as dew caress the morn.
With night in silence fleeing, darkness e’er forlorn,
The cold and lifeless rising, by rays of sunshine born.

Campfire
White the embers, glowing bright,
Dark of sin, consumed this night.
Life’s misgivings, now set aright,
Peace renewing, most sacred rite.

Falling Stars
Fleeting days, the distant nights,
Blazing fury, fame burning bright.
Alas, misfortune! Vanity’s blight,
All consuming, man’s fatal flight.

Summer Fly
Persistent guests, these little flies,
Balmy weather, how they burst to life.
Oh, quick be gone, seek another clime,
Yet presence hailing, tis summer time!

Crown
Ring of thorns, shame, no hiding,
Blood and sweat, needles feeding.
Until at last, true form showing,
Glorious crown, its fragrance rising.

Triumph
Barbs so sharp, piercing hide,
Endless trial from every side.
Embrace His Will, humble fate,
Sweet triumph! Love over hate.

Green and Gold
Days endless passing, year upon year,
Gift of ageing, a grace to hold dear.
Wisdom gathers, as the hours grow old,
The raw and green, now precious gold.

Stars & Crowns
New life has been His promise, The Lord now beckons, “Come”,
Arise from River Jordan, another like Christ become.
All stain of sin relinquish, water trailing off the sleeve.
Fresh robe of stars to warm thee, many crowns of victory.

Papa
The lapping of the waves,
The music of the stars,
The call of birds and beasts,
Resounding near and far.
Yet what ruled His ears and heart,
So precious to behold,
Strains of sweet affection,
“My father, my papa!”
