Basking in His glory, resplendent in His light,
Favour and salvation, wrought by grace and might.
Night, its tribulations, evil put to flight,
Kingdom, day is dawning, behold the just and right.
Firm and quiet spirit, he thirsts for life divine,
Biding through harsh winter, his soul by cold, refine.
Stripped, hurt and suffering, yet new leaves sprout so fine,
Deeper the pain and insult, still greater, his glory shines.
“Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
~ Matthew 5:11-12
Ring of thorns, shame, no hiding,
Blood and sweat, needles feeding.
Until at last, true form showing,
Glorious crown, its fragrance rising.
From the ancient past, witnessing.
The dark days of Man’s mortal damning.
To that hour,
His glorious redeeming.
“The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree.”
~ Acts 5:30
Silhouette of leaves,
Framed against the sky.
Their darkness speak ever so clearly,
Here is His Glory,
Here is His Light.
“… that you may announce the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9
