Neither hoards of silver or gold,
Or the conquest of peoples and land.
The finest treasure surely to hold,
A walk with my pippins, hand in hand.

Pippin: An apple. In this case, my wife and kids who are the apple of my eye 🙂

Heaven and the Bee

Perhaps this little bee can give us a glimpse of heaven?

Bursting with life,
not barely,

Ever so busy,
yet not fretting,

One at home,
Hearts resting.

“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.”

~ St Augustine of Hippo

Bending the Law

Bending the Law

Has the law demanding “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” ever brought about a peaceful and lasting solution to any of the woes in this world?

Is it not rather in bending to mercy and forgiveness, that the law finds its true fulfilment and for man, a realisation of his nobler self?

The placard reads “Please do not lean cycles against this wall”. Cambridge, UK

“If you, LORD, keep account of sins,
Lord, who can stand?

But with you is forgiveness and
so you are revered.”
~ Psalm 130:3-4

Staying Afloat

Staying Afloat

Living is far from having all provisions stocked and ready in order to stay afloat in both calm and choppy waters.

Real life can only be experienced by accepting the changes in sea and weather conditions, improvising, and having a patient trust in His merciful providence.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”

~ Matthew 6:25

Two Trees

Two Trees

It seems a peculiar but yet, simple matter, choosing between two trees.

To eat the fruit from the Tree of Life or that from
the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Wouldn’t everyone have readily chosen Life over Knowledge?

Sadly, our daily experiences inform us otherwise as we regularly trade life giving opportunities in exchange for chances to draw flawed and often uncharitable judgements about God and our neighbour.

Suddenly, the dreadful choice made by Adam and Eve which we have often bemoaned for our fall, becomes ours too.

Our original sin.

“Out of the ground the LORD God made grow every tree that was delightful to look at and good for food, with the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
~ Genesis 2:9

Talitha Koum!

Talitha Koum!

Only through Faith can the spiritual child within us be raised back to life and thus enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
~ D.F.

To Jairus’ daughter who had died:

Jesus took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).

Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.
~ Mark 5:41-42
