Second Spring

Man’s first spring running its course,
Weakly ebbing, heading to fall.
A second, still, eager to come forth,
Only waiting, icy hearts to thaw.

The days of Winter winding down,
Stored away, all snow and storm.
Sweet Spring, make haste, remind us all,
Love’s first kiss, gentle and warm.

Daniel

A sure death they had plotted,
serpents of men, those beasts,
Jaws and stomachs waiting,
such a tasty little feast.
But the Lord had His eye on him,
no harm would He concede,
Now curled up in the lion’s mane,
Daniel, fast asleep.

Cutter

How lonely it must be, emotions wearing thin,
All that you control, line of red upon the skin.
Yet as blood wells, leave your worries at His feet,
Like you, His tender body, many the cuts so deep.

Our vision thwarted, the clouds arrive.
Swirling, gathering, uncertainties rife.
Whispering little fibs and brazen lies.
The cover of darkness, beware his knife.

His childlike devotion, so often untold,
Hands full of labour, the graces flowed.
This day, he rests, body still and cold,
But embers still burn, Love’s afterglow.

Old blessed curse, the hobble,

The world so fleeting far below,
Nothing it seems, within control.
Abandon the will, this unnerving flight,
His hand for sure, will steady your ride.
