Unmarked graves in the garden, they lie,
Broken, buried, obscured from our eyes.
Forgotten glories, fading fast with time,
Then whispers of spring, life’s fortune revive.

Jerusalem
Tresses dancing in the golden light,
Your laughter, His treasure and delight.
Draw close to Him, flee the menacing night,
Alas, your desire, lies in wayward flight.

*************
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how many times I yearned to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were unwilling!”
~ Luke 13:34
Tiptoe
Spirit quite unbridled, he’s shorter than he seems,
Slow is the world around him, quick ahead he steams.
Ideas none too bold for him; his mind, no prison holds,
Reaching the moon, so easy a task! My boy simply stands tiptoe.

In The Air
The breathing of the oceans, the flowering of the earth,
The movement of the planets, the miracle of new birth.
Yet should it be any wonder, that You seem such a lost affair?
My head up beyond the clouds, only airy thoughts greet me there.

Jigsaw
The jigsaw nears completion, with Cornerstone in place,
Plan conceived from long ago, execution gathers pace.
Can you make out its grand design, whose fount, the Lord’s own mind?
A listening heart, eyes of faith, and that you should take your place.

“Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone”
~ Ephesians 2:20
Hansel & Gretel
Wayward forest, both had gone,
Twisted trees, barbs and thorns,
Labyrinth, dark, hope long worn,
Trail of breadcrumbs! By grace, reborn.
~ D.F.
*************
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
~ John 6:51
Pride
Hardest substance man has known,
Pride he regards, precious stone,
Thirsting but to ask, dignity low,
Foolish drought, his needless woe.
~ D.F.
Muse
The sea, dark abyss, desert dunes,
Rolling streams, and mountain views.
Void was the canvas, no life, no tune,
Then painter divine, nature, his muse.
~ D.F.
Hide & Seek
Light dances, nature breathes free,
In all creation, your workings see.
Known, O Lord, to all who seek thee,
Even dark shadows, have yielded me.
~ D.F.
Etchings
Their presence tell the tale, wounds upon the soul,
Days as a youngling, until the hours old.
Memories of one, lust for gain, control,
By grace, now a simple child, attuned to life’s true goal.
