Sanctuary

Come, raze me to the ground, then build me all anew,

My every rock and timber, every bolt and screw.

Then find in me, a temple, holy, through and through,

And bless it with Your Presence, this sanctuary for You.

~ D.F.

Neverland

IMG_4111.JPG
Well, I’ll be off to Neverland, young, eternal, free,
There its open meadows, for a run, inviting me.
The wind, so cheerful, dancing, my friends, those handsome trees,
Underneath the brilliant sky, a child, now home with Thee.
~ D.F.

Bones

Revive these tired bones, so beaten down and worn,
The flesh of man did carry, many his sins thus borne.
Strength and youth restoring, healed, those tendons torn,
Then Christ Himself enrobing! The son of man reborn.
~ D.F.

*************
“Son of man, can these bones come back to life?”
~ Ezekiel 37:3

Jacob’s Ladder

Jacob's Ladder

O lead me on to heaven, sweet celestial stairs,
Steps both broad and firm, my weary gait to bear.
His voice so gently coaxing, my load, the angels share,
Now stars within my reaching, beyond the hurt and care.
~ D.F.

*************
“A stairway rested on the ground, with its top reaching to the heavens; and God’s angels were going up and down on it.”

Salt

Salt

A taste so pure and simple, no guile or false pretence,
As wisdom favours the godly, it revives the dull and bland.
Sweetness gently drawing, His Spirit, now a friend,
The Chosen by hand so gathered, Salt from sea and land.
~ D.F.

*************
“You are the salt of the earth.”
~ Matthew 5:13

Beatitude

Beatitude

Rain relentless falling, its end hid far from view,
Prayer and supplication, yet dreams live unfulfilled.
Hope as teardrops pouring, the earth receives her fill,
So woe should yield its blessing, the poor, a King revealed.
~ D.F.

*************
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
~ Matthew 5:3

Abram

Swirling winds and the endless floor,
Yahweh beckons,”Come, follow my call.”
Old and familiar, regard them, no more,
Stars and sand, your faith to the fore.
~ D.F.

Jerusalem

Jerusalem

Tresses dancing in the golden light,
Your laughter, His treasure and delight.
Draw close to Him, flee the menacing night,
Alas, your desire, lies in wayward flight.

Poor Man

Poor Man

Woe is his lot, how parched is his land,
Teased by the devil, lorded over by man.
Save for sweet grace, The Lord extends His hand,
He who was struck low, again, he shall stand.

Lift

Lift

Gentle the lift, by His angel’s wings,
From this windless place, down beneath.
Flowers gathering, skipping over trees,
Rising to the heavens, where clouds roam free.
~ D.F.
